The second is by the Infirmarian, reporting the activities of Doctor Miller, who began 17 March 1846. This is in the vernacular and reports the ill-health of novices, brothers, and priests by name. Provides a good look at treatments and their frequencies--bleeding--and medications--oil, salt, rhubarb, alloes, gum arabic, sage, honey, molasses, magnesia, and so forth. Describes the day-by-day progress--or sinking--until recovery or death.
